New Arachne fixes numerous bugs and it is also once again slightly faster, more stable and includes some new features.

Arachne 1.69 finaly fixes some of "evergreen" bugs, like totaly unpredictable memory leaks caused by limitations of 16bit DOS memory management. HTML renderer was finaly rewritten to use only Arachne's own memory management instead of storing some page components to conventional memory, so these memory leaks should be history now.

Other bugs were fixed in Insight mail manager, which should always choose valid DOS filenames for e-mail attachments. Full support for CC: and Bcc: fields was finaly implemented, which means that Insight is slightly evoling from simple, lightweight e-mail client into powerful

Arachne 1.69 features also new HTML layout enhancements: eg. <TABLE BACKGROUND...> attribute is supported by both Netscape and MSIE, but it is still ignored for example by Opera 4.x.

This stable release was absolutely necessary before starting series of beta versions of Arachne with support for JavaScript and StyleSheets. These new features cannot be implemented overnight and it was important to trace and fix as many bugs as possible in existing limited codebase before allowing any new, unverified features to be included into Arachne. Many other projects made the mistake of trying to include as many features as possible in early phase of development, and such approach resulted in resulting applications to be overall instable and bloated.
