This release introduces implementation of certain useful features, like wheel mouse support or persistent HTTP connections.

New Arachne release includes many useful improvements compared to previouse releses:

  • Support for wheel mice compatible with Microsoft Intellimouse (eg. Genius Netscroll+). To you this feature, you have to use our patched version of CTMOUSE driver instead of your existing mouse driver.
  • Persistent HTTP/1.0 connections (Connection: keep-alive). This feature accelerates image download.
  • Faster search for missing images. This accelerates image download especially when cache is nearly full.
  • Improved screen layout: you can use F5 key to switch to new "small icons" layout, in which you can see 14 useful icons, document title and document URL, while almost all your screen is available for HTML document.

    Together with new QV from Multimediaware, which supports not only AVI and QuickTime movies, but also MPEGs including sound track, new Arachne and new CTMOUSE driver together bring glimpses of high-end computing to your old DOS workstation. Image download in new Arachne was accelerated so much, that Arachne becomes serious challenger of big browsers on any hardware - not only on historical machines incapable of running latest software.
