This may be old story for veterans of 8-bit home computing back in 1980s' - but the same confusingterminology is still used the days - with RAM modules and telecomunnication services being usually marketed using kilobits and megabits (per second), while mass storage devices and networking software use kilobytes, megabytes and gigabytes (per second).
