Arachne 1.66 for DOS Michael Polák ( ) Přečteno 174586x, 11 komentářů, rubrika: (en) Software Releases This release fixes one big security
hole, which was present in all previous
releases. It also solves some smaller
problems, which were observed by users
of version 1.65.
First testers have reported, that Arachne version 1.66
for DOS is relatively stable and usable release,
so it is probably going to be official Arachne release
for some time - maybe for next few months.
Meanwhile, work on implementing new features (like
JavaScript or SSL) and on porting Arachne to more
platforms will continue. We areo going to publish
XML-based translation toolkit, which is going to simplify
translation of Arachne package version 1.66 to other
languaes.
Alternative binaries (CORE.EXE file) of version 1.66 for
low-end DOS machines (without HiColor capable video cards
and/or without any XMS memory available) are now available
as APM packages, and can be obtained from
Arachne
for DOS download page. These alternative binaries
require less conventional DOS memory than the main
release.
Version 1.66 for both DOS and Linux fixes serious
security bug, which is not going to be published anytime
soon, so all users of older versions have enough time to
upgrade their installations of Arachne. This is especially
urgent for users of all alpha pre-releases of
Arachne for Linux, older than 1.66 beta !
Some smaller problems which were solved in release 1.66 for
DOS: deleting of cache using F8 key or desktop
icons, troubles with incorrect TEMP directory definition,
some layout bugs.
